Festive Gift Package

Surprise your loved ones with a gift package bursting with affection for the Hebrew language! The package, which comes with an Academy gift bag, contains both decorative and practical items.

1. Eliezer Ben-Yehuda figurine– a limited-edition figurine commemorating the trailblazing scholar who spearheaded the revival of spoken Hebrew. The back of the figurine’s protective display case lists a few of the most commonly used words he coined, such as מִלּוֹן, ‘dictionary,’ and גְּלִידָה, ‘ice cream.’
2. Hebrew apron– a knee-length cotton apron that displays the Hebrew names and illustrations of several kitchen utensils (e.g., tureen, grater) from a 1933 visual dictionary of kitchenware.
3. Hebrew tote (herbs)– a cotton tote bag adorned with the likenesses of various herbs alongside their proper Hebrew names and the foreign names still used for them by most Hebrew speakers
4. Pocket dictionary: 100 Words– a whimsically illustrated decade-by-decade retrospective of 100 of the Hebrew words introduced by the Hebrew Language Committee and, subsequently, by the Academy of the Hebrew Language, including some less-familiar words such as מַשְׁחִיתָנוּת, ‘vandalism,’ and דְּשֹׁנֶת, ‘compost.’
5. “Who Knows Ten?”– a seder-table quiz challenge for the whole family (detailed answers included)
6. A gift bag.
